The technically flawless and secure operation of a substation is just as important for a wind farm as continuously good wind. As we can’t provide you with wind, we minimise the technical risk for you with our expertise in the operation of Substations.
All tasks in our operations management of Substations aim to minimise the occurrence of faults or damage and downtimes.
My goal is to analyse future requirements on the market, continuously improve daily business and create added value for our customers.
Your substation is monitored 24/7 by a control system and all incoming errors and status messages are checked. Thanks to our second redundant emergency notification system we ensure that we are informed of important error and status messages at all times even if the primary control system fails, to ensure that we can implement further necessary steps immediately. We therefore tackle problems with the substation around the clock and are able, depending on the event, to quickly arrange measures such as necessary switching operations, either remotely or on-site, to introduce and implement suppression operations and cooperation with the grid operator and the wind farm operators.
We comprehensively document all maintenance works, repairs and error messages and make them available to you in an orderly fashion. Important dates, such as the end of manufacturer warranties or DGUV V3 checks becoming due, are monitored and kept track of by energy consult. We save all data affecting your substation in a suitable form in a special database.
In order to ensure a high level of availability and minimal repair costs in the long term, the substation has to be checked for developing or already present defects and maintained at regular intervals. Alongside legal or official requirements, the implementation of such checks is recommended to achieve an optimal asset management system in order to recognise damages ahead of time and to increase the availability of the substation overall
In order to avoid failures in the substation and to undertake necessary repairs in less windy periods, it is important to not only check critical components for their latest status, but also to continuously follow up of their condition development. Alongside analysing the current condition of relevant components, our experts also analyse whether trends in their properties give any indication of developing damages – for the planning of preventative repairs..
As a system operator you are legally obligated to ensure the safe operation of your substation with repairs and maintenance work – for this we nominate a person responsible for the system from our team of experts. This is how our experienced electrical specialists take on the necessary responsibility when working on or near your system so that particular hazards when working on electrical systems can be assessed and the work safety measures can be upheld.
